Find the best financial services for you at: SMARTFINANCESOLUTIONS.NET - Advice please? Landlord company filed bankruptcy and unsure if I should pay last month's rent? - I recently received a notice in the mail that my landlord company has just filed chapter seven bankruptcy. When I asked one gentleman of the company, he said the police have all the papers and they have no records of my security deposit/rental agreement, etc, but the police do. The other gentleman of the company said that I would get my deposit within 30 days of move out. I gave my 30 days notice and did not pay my last month’s rent of 500 dollars for fear of never seeing my 600 security deposit. I'll be moved into my new place by the end of the month. I talked to other tenants here, and they said we would all be lucky to see our money since they filed bankruptcy. I just want them to keep my security deposit and not pay my last month’s rent, and everything will be peachy, but would they sue or evict me and have a negative impact on my credit and rental history? I've never had a late payment. Please help if you can. Thank you for your time! -
