In a scathing address during the launch of the BJP's second Parivartan Sankalp Yatra in Rajasthan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah did not hold back in his critique of the Ashok Gehlot government. With the looming shadow of upcoming Assembly elections over the state, Shah's speech honed in on the government's numerous inadequacies, with a particular focus on law and order, especially concerning the safety of women.
Astonishingly, Shah commenced his speech by shedding light on the distressing statistics of crimes against women in the state. He revealed a shocking fact: ""Nearly 19 cases of crimes against women are reported daily. Shockingly, Rajasthan alone contributes to 22 percent of the country's rape cases."" These statistics painted a grim picture, underscoring the ineffectiveness of the state's law enforcement in ensuring a secure environment for its female residents.
Shah continued his address by launching a biting critique of the Gehlot government's track record, infusing a touch of humor as he wryly commented, ""Gehlot ji is a magician; he makes many things disappear."" The Home Minister accused the government of allowing essential services such as electricity, healthcare, employment opportunities for youth, and women's safety to vanish into thin air.
Shah went as far as naming several districts that had reported communal incidents over the past four and a half years, further bolstering his case against the Gehlot government's approach. He concluded his address by posing a rhetorical question to the audience, asking whether a government that propagated appeasement and allegedly fueled riots should continue to hold power.
In his speech, Union Home Minister Amit Shah pulled no punches, candidly expressing his concerns about the state's law and order situation, especially the safety of women. He painted a bleak picture using crime statistics and accused the Gehlot government of neglecting essential services while failing to cooperate with the central government.
Moreover, Shah raised alarms about the government's alleged politics of appeasement and its adverse impact on communal harmony. As the Assembly elections drew nearer, voters were left to ponder these issues and contemplate their potential consequences on Rajasthan's political landscape.
There is misogyny in Rajasthan, and rape cases are on the rise, which is condemable and wrong. But that said, The BJP should also take note that, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh still roams free despite allegations against him, and Ram Rahim Singh is granted parole to celebrate a family member's birthday.
