A wildfire burning near the Yosemite National Park forced the evacuation of the community of Wawona on Wednesday, August 1, while park authorities restricted access to visitors.

Mercury News reported that the Ferguson fire, which erupted on July 13, had burned to within a mile of Yosemite’s Merced Grove. Calfire said the wildfire had consumed over 68,610 acres and was 39 per cent as of August 2. Credit: Aaron Muir via Storyful
