The Ferguson Fire had scorched more than 4,000 acres of land in the Sierra National Forest, California, and was just 2 percent contained by July 16, according to official reports.
A firefighter, Heavy Fire Equipment Operator Braden Varney, was killed during the response, according to official reports.
