A snowstorm hit the eastern Chinese provinces of Anhui and Jiangsu over January 4 and 5, with the country issuing a blizzard alert as snow disrupted transport and power supply.
At least three airports in the region were closed due to the heavy snowfall, and high-speed trains from Shanghai and Beijing were delayed or canceled. Henan, Shaaanxi and Hubei provinces were also affected by the storm, according to the South China Morning Post.
The National Meteorological Center lifted the blizzard alert on January 5, but warned that moderate snowfall would continue to blanket affected provinces over the weekend.
