ModaLisboa Sangue Novo (New Blood) participant Cristina Real combines fashion and architecture for her Spring/Summer 2015 collection. With Japanese architect Kengo Kumo as inspiration, Real crafts garments that emulate the shapes and sensations of the Water/Glass House in Atami, Japan. Similar to the transparencies, and reflective tones of black, dark and light blue on glass, her palette consists of bright navy, denim blue, blue-white, metallic blue, metallic silver, bright black, transparent black, transparent light blue and beige pearl. Reals “glass house” is constructed with materials of silk organza, shiny satin, pleated mousseline, transparent vinyl, acetates, denim, cotton, leather and metallic embroidery beads.
Cristina was born in 1989, in Lisbon. In 2009, she moved to Porto to study Fashion Design. She partecipated to Young Blood platform presentation under which graduate students of the Fashion Design schools, or designers which have been in business less than two years, have an opportunity to present their creations. The collection results from “a stop, a moment in which we start to reflect about who we are, what we want, what we want to do and what our reference is”.
