PlayStation 4 provides strength for the PC platform, NVIDIA announces PlayStation 4’s support of two software development kits, and Sony Santa Monica offers an exciting God of War: Ascension promise, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Dom Starr, the campaign designer behind Total War: Rome 2, has released the following statement when asked about the decline of PC gaming “If anything, the fact that the new console, PS4, seems to pretty much be an adapted PC just goes to show that the platform is strong and likely to not see the death of it any time soon.” Knowing Sony has learned from the development complications imposed with the PlayStation 3 by creating a hardware environment similar to that of the PC, is exciting not only for developers, but gamers as the simplified development process will allow for more productivity and less deficiencies.

Speaking on Sony’s PlayStation 4 and its similarities to the PC, NVIDIA has announced that the upcoming console from Sony will support NVIDIA’s PhysX and APEX software development kits allowing for pervasive collision detection, particle effects, physics, and more providing ultrarealistic gameplay experiences beyond what any other video game console has pulled off in the past.

Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, the launch of God of War: Ascension is just days away and to ignite more excitement into Kratos’ upcoming appearance, John Palamarchuk, Lead Environmental Artist at Sony Santa Monica, stated the following regarding multiplayer “We’re going to release maps packs and additional maps for free so players don’t end up in a situation where they have a map pack and their friend doesn’t and then they can’t play together. Everyone is going to have the same maps.” As one who is stoked for God of War: Ascension and excited to hop into the franchise’s first online multiplayer appearance, I am stoked to hear this news and hope to see an active community once the game launches March 12th.
