Millennium Country Park has been named as a finalist in the 'Best Environment Project Category' of the National Lottery Awards 2010. The awards recognise the amazing work being done by lottery-funded groups across the UK. The aim is to highlight the significant difference that projects - both large and small - make to communities everywhere and to celebrate the achievements of the people behind them.

The project transformed a damaged industrial landscape into a 225-hectare park with woodlands, wetlands and meadows, walking, cycling and horse trails, play areas and a wildlife garden. It also built a visitor and conference centre which has helped the project to be self-sufficient.

To vote for Millennium Country Park call 0844 686 7606 or visit www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards. The winners will be announced 4th September on a live programme on BBC One.
