Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy defended the latest charges against Hunter Biden on Sunday, calling them “legally justified” while slamming the first son as “very troubled.” Murphy ripped into the scandal-plagued first son’s behavior, while simultaneously pushing back on Republicans for using it as a cudgel against President Biden. Hunter Biden was slapped with nine fresh charges last week — three felonies and six misdemeanors — for alleged tax violations. The first son previously pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges for alleged willful failure to pay his income taxes and three charges for alleged illegal possession of a firearm while addicted to illicit drugs. Despite bashing Hunter’s behavior, Murphy commended President Biden as a “president who has led an economic recovery that has been unprecedented.”
