Hunter Biden Is Indicted , on 9 More Tax Charges.
Three new felony charges and six new
misdemeanor charges were filed against President Joe Biden's son in California on Dec. 7, AP reports. .
Hunter is also facing
federal firearms charges in Delaware.
According to special counsel David Weiss,
Hunter "spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle rather than paying his tax bills.".
The charges stem from $1.4 million Hunter owed for the tax years 2016 to 2019.
He has since paid those back taxes, AP reports.
Hunter faces up to 17 years in prison if convicted.
Abbe Lowell, Hunter's attorney, accused the special
counsel of "bowing to Republican pressure.".
Based on the facts and the law,
if Hunter’s last name was anything
other than Biden, the charges in
Delaware, and now California,
would not have been brought, Abbe Lowell, Hunter's attorney, via statement.
The current indictment comes as
GOP Congress members push for an impeachment inquiry into the president.
The House will vote next week on whether
it will formally authorize the inquiry
