Wales’ firebreak lockdown in October 2020 was the ‘correct decision’ according to Boris Johnson’s former chief communications officer. Lee Cain, giving evidence in the ongoing covid inquiry, said Wales’ 3 week lockdown which closed pubs, restaurants and kept people at home was politically advantageous.

Blaenau Gwent council have warned of difficult decisions as the council look to make £10 million pound cuts in next years budget. Council leader Steve Thomas said cuts could be as high as £35 million in the next few years, and will consult on the priority areas that need to be protected.

Wales has felt the effects of the ongoing storm Ciaran, with flooding in some areas, and travel disruption across the country. Kiln Park, a caravan site near Tenby in Pembrokeshire has asked guests to leave due to flooding. The Met office has warned of a risk to life and property until the end of the week.
