Birmingham headlines 1 November: New Street Station evacuated over suspected grenade
Hundreds of passengers' travel plans were thrown into chaos as British Transport Police evacuated New Street Station on Monday evening. There were reports of a grenade on platform one - later confirmed to be a cannabis grinder. Services returned to normal later that afternoon.

Police are stepping up patrols in Bartley Green following reports of children putting fireworks though letterboxes. The first incident took place at a takeaway in Curdale Road. Police said fireworks were thrown through the letterbox, but fortunately no-one was hurt.

Police are continuing to look into disorder that occurred following the Birmingham City vs Millwall match at St. Andrews last year. The two sides are set to meet again on Wednesday night in Birmingham, and police are warning fans that a repeat of the disorder will not be tolerated.
