हिंदू कैलेंडर के अनुसार, प्रत्येक माह में अमावस्या तिथि पड़ती है, जिसे अलग-अलग नामों से जाना जाता है। साथ ही इनका विशेष महत्व भी होता है। भाद्रपद माह में पड़ने वाली अमावस्या को पिठोरी अमावस्या कहा जाता है। इस साल पिठौरी अमावस्या 27 अगस्त 2022, दिन सोमवार को मनाई जाएगी। इस अमावस्या पर पितृ तर्पण आदि धार्मिक कार्यों में कुश का प्रयोग किया जाता है, इसलिए इसे कुश अमावस्या भी कहा जाता है। इस अमावस्या पर पितरों का तर्पण करने से पितृ दोष से होने वाली परेशानियों से मुक्ति मिलती है। इसके अलावा इस दिन मां दुर्गा की भी पूजा करने का प्रावधान है।

Amavasya falling in the month of Bhadrapada is called Pithori Amavasya. This year Pithori Amavasya will be celebrated on 27th August 2022, the day Monday. On this Amavasya, Kush is used in religious works like Pitra Tarpan etc., hence it is also called Kush Amavasya. Worshiping the ancestors on this new moon gives relief from the troubles caused by Pitru Dosha.
