Marcus Smart was interviewed after the Celtics were eliminated by the Brooklyn Nets, 123-109.
Smart was asked what impacted the season the most for the team. “Injuries on top of injuries, guys not being able to play together. A lot of personal stuff...things more important than basketball but you know, you still have to be professional, you have to come to work and you have to put a smile on your face and you have to dig deep in and figure it out. For me personally, I just lost about four or five people literally within 4 to 3 months of each other so coming in to work everyday and putting a smile on your face...you got to got to do it and that's it so, it is what it is. We had a great season, we finished off you know strong and that's all we can ask for.”
On the team’s effort and not caving in this series, Smart said
"I’m proud of the way these guys fought. I’m proud of the attitude. We could have easily just said, let’s just go home. But we continued to come out here and fight. Odds weren’t in our favor. You live with it. It’s part of it. You move on, come back stronger."
He was also not going to let a down year deter him or his teammates. "We've been to the Eastern Conference Finals three of the last four years...When we're healthy, and we have everybody, we're a b***h (to play against)."
