Marcus Smart was interviewed postgame after the Celtics’ 113-108 loss vs the Dallas Mavericks. He seemed to get emotional during the press conference talking about the Celtics’ recent struggles.
“We’re trying. It’s just, we don’t know. They tell a shooter when he’s in a slump to keep shooting the ball, to shoot yourself out of it. For us, we’ve just gotta keep playing, play ourselves out of this slump,” said Smart. The Celtics have now lost seven of their last ten games.
Smart said the team won’t give up, but admitted that they are struggling at the moment. “For us, we’ve just gotta keep playing, play ourselves out of this slump,” he stated. “I think we’re gonna turn it around. I don’t know when.”
The fan favorite has always been known as a hustle player, and his postgame responses reflected that identity. Smart said that the Celtics “just gotta find a way, literally. Gotta claw, scratch.”
