TD GARDEN - Marcus Smart was interviewed postgame after the Celtics 145-136 win vs the Minnesota Timberwolves in overtime. He talked a lot about his playmaking, the nasty elbow he took from Karl-Anthony Towns, and Jayson Tatum’s monster game
Smart had eight assists on the night and commented on his ability to find open guys. “I was just being me,” said Smart. “I’m a point guard and I just try to take what the defense gives me and find the open guy.”
He also gave an update on how he was feeling after taking a nasty elbow at the hands of Karl-Anthony Towns. “My head’s okay… at the time it was a little sore,” said Smart. “”I thank God I got all this hair to kind of embrace the impact a little bit,” he mentioned jokingly.
The veteran guard went on to praise teammate Jayson Tatum after his monster, 50-point performance. He said that he and the team were trying to “support him whatever way we could.” Tatum exploded for his career-high and did so on super efficient shooting. “You know he’s making all the right plays down the stretch and you know when you got a player of his caliber that can do those types of things it’s fun to watch. It’s fun to be a part of.”
