The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Centre to deposit in its account the compensation given by Italy for the kin of two Indian fishermen killed by Italian Marines off the Kerala coast in February 2012. A bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian said the top court will disburse the compensation to the kin of the fishermen killed.

2012 में केरल में समुद्र तट पर इटली के नौ सैनिकों द्वारा गोली मारकर दो मछुआरों की हत्या का मामला आपको याद होगा. इसको लेकर खूब हंगामा मचा था. बाद में उन इतालवी नौसैनिकों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया था, जिसके बाद दोनों देशों के बीच काफी तल्खी भी आ गई थी. हालांकि इटली के काफी कूटनीतिक प्रयास के बाद भारत ने दोनों आरोपी नौ सैनिकों को वापस भेज दिया था. लेकिन अभी तक वो केस बंद नहीं हुआ है.
