The Motera stadium has been renamed to Narendra Modi stadium. The surprise renaming of the revamped Motera cricket stadium in Gujarat after Prime Minister Narendra Modi today caused a flood of reactions on social media. The largest cricket ground in the world was launched by President Ram Nath Kovind and has a capacity of 1,10,000. What was earlier referred to the Motera Stadium or the Sardar Patel Stadium will now be called the Narendra Modi stadium.


मोटेरा में बने दुनिया के सबसे बड़े क्रिकेट स्टेडियम का उद्घाटन देश के राष्ट्रपति और गृह मंत्री की उपस्थिती में हुआ, गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने इस दौरान स्टेडियम के नए नाम की घोषणा की, नए स्टेडियम का नाम प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के नाम पर करने के गुजरात क्रिकेट संघ के फैसले पर भले ही कुछ लोग सवाल उठा रहे हों, लेकिन यह पहली बार नहीं हुआ है। पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री जवाहर लाल नेहरू के नाम देश में नौ तो इंदिरा गांधी के नाम पर तीन स्टेडियमों के नाम हैं। मोदी जब जीसीए के अध्यक्ष थे तो उन्होंने 25 साल पुराने मोटेरा स्टेडियम को तोड़कर इस नए स्टेडियम की परिकल्पना की थी।
