India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant had a tough 2019. Pant’s inconsistent performances saw him getting lot of criticism from fans for both his batting and wicketkeeping. Biju George, the coach of Sanju Samson believes that the right-handed batsman will have a golden chance to book his place in the T20 World Cup 2021 squad if he performs well in the two IPLs which are scheduled to be held in a span of seven months. Samson has so far played 93 matches in the IPL, managing to score 1,696 runs at an average of 27.61 with his highest score being 102 not out.

ऋषभ पंत से पहले डेब्यू करने के बावजूद संजू सैमसन का करियर कुछ ख़ास नहीं रहा है अब तक. विकेटकीपिंग में पहले बड़ी उम्मीद बनाकर उभरे थे. पर अब बैकअप विकेटकीपर के तौर पर भी संजू सैमसन को शामिल नहीं किया जाता है. पंत की तरह संजू सैमसन को ज्यादा मौके नहीं मिले. इसी वजह से उनका करियर नहीं चला है अब तक. हालाँकि, आईपीएल में लगातार केरल के इस विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज को मौके मिले हैं. इतना ही नहीं उन्होंने दो आईपीएल शतक भी लगाए हैं. राजस्थान रॉयल्स की तरफ से आईपीएल खेलने वाले संजू सैमसन को ऋषभ पंत से तगड़ा कम्पटीशन मिला है. पर संजू सैमसन ने इस बात पर कहा था कि हम दोनों में ऐसी कोई भावना नहीं है. बस हम खेल को बेहतर बनाना चाहते हैं.
