Chaturmas means those four months of the year when any auspicious work is considered taboo during this period. This time the Chaturmas are starting from 1st July. According to the Hindu calendar, the time from Devshayani Ekadashi to Devuthani Ekadashi is the time of Charthmas. During Chaturmas i.e. 4 months, marriage rituals, rites, house entry etc. are considered to be prohibited for all Mars work. Auspicious works begin again with Devotthan Ekadashi. It is believed that during these four months, Lord Vishnu, the creator of the universe, goes to rest in the Kshira Sea, so all kinds of auspicious and auspicious actions stop.

चातुर्मास यानी साल के वो चार महीने जब इस दौरान किसी भी तरह के शुभ कार्य को वर्जित माना जाता है। इस बार 1 जुलाई से चातुर्मास आरंभ हो रहे हैं। हिंदू पंचांग के अनुसार देवशयनी एकादशी से देवउठनी एकादशी तक का समय चार्तुमास का समय होता है। चातुर्मास के दौरान यानी 4 माह में विवाह संस्कार, संस्कार, गृह प्रवेश आदि सभी मंगल कार्य निषेध माने गए हैं। देवोत्थान एकादशी के साथ शुभ कार्यों की शुरुआत दोबारा फिर से हो जाती है। ऐसी मान्यता है कि इन चार महीनों के दौरान सृष्टि के पालनहार भगवान विष्णु क्षीर सागर में विश्राम करने के लिए चले जाते हैं इसलिए सभी तरह के शुभ और मांगलिक कार्यों थम जाते हैं।
