India has identified at least six local vaccine candidates with 30 groups trying to develop a vaccine for Covid-19. Besides, around 10 drugs are being re-purposed for use in treatment of the disease and are under different stages of trials, the government said while also highlighting that it was working on guidelines to prioritise distribution of the vaccine once it is available.

भारत में कम से कम 6 वैक्‍सीन कैंडिडेट्स ऐसे हैं जिनमें प्रॉमिस दिखा है। देश में 30 ग्रुप्‍स हैं जो कोविड-19 की वैक्‍सीन खोज रहे हैं। के. विजयराघवन ने कहा कि चार तरह की वैक्‍सीन पर फिलहाल रिसर्च हो रही है। इनमें mRNA वैक्‍सीन, अटेनुएटेड वैक्‍सीन, एनऐक्टिवेटेड वैक्‍सीन और एडजुवेंट वैक्‍सीन शामिल हैं। भारत में जिन वैक्‍सीन पर काम चल रहा है, उनमें से कुछ प्री-क्लिनिकल स्‍टेज में हैं। प्रिंसिपल साइंटिफिक एडवाइजर ने कहा कि वैक्‍सीन बनने में टाइम लगेगा। उन्‍होंने कहा कि फिजिकल डिस्‍टेंसिंग और हैंड हाइजीन का कोई विकल्‍प नहीं है।
