Sourav Ganguly won the toss and decided to bowl first and Laxmipathy Balaji with his skilful bowling picked four wickets restricted Pakistan for 224 on Day 1. India lost in-form opener Sehwag early courtesy, Shoaib Akhtar. Dravid scored 15 at the end of Day 1 and went to score his highest individual score of 270. India went on to win the match by an innings and 131 runs to clinch series 2-1.

वैसे तो राहुल द्रविड़ ने अपने करियर में कई बेहतरीन और यादगार टेस्ट पारियां खेली है. लेकिन, उनमें से एक पारी पकिस्तान के खिलाफ 270 रनों का भी थी. जिसकी बदौलत टीम इंडिया पाकिस्तान में पहली बार टेस्ट सीरीज जीतने में सफल रही थी. द्रविड़ ने खुद अपनी इस पारी को सर्वश्रेष्ठ पारी बताया है. राहुल ने अपनी इस पारी को याद करते हुए बताया कि उन्होंने इस पारी से पहले ही चुनौती दे दी थी. भारत 2003-04 में पाकिस्तान के दौरे पर गया था. तीन मैचों की सीरीज में दोनों टीमें 1-1 से बराबरी पर थी. तीसरा मैच रावलपिंडी में खेला गया था. इस सीरीज में राहुल का बल्ला चला नहीं था.
