Latif recalled the first ODI of the Sharjah Cup in 1996 in Sharjah where Rahul Dravid was dismissed by Mushtaq Ahmed. Dravid, who had made his ODI debut for India barely a fortnight ago, was playing his third ODI and his second match against Pakistan. Latif said Dravid, who was adjudged caught behind, had asked him after the match whether he was actually out or not. Dravid was dismissed by Mushtaq Ahmed for 3 and India were bowled out for 233, chasing Pakistan’s 272 as the Aameer Sohail-led side won the match by 38 runs.

साल 1996 की बात है. भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच मैच खेला जा रहा था. शारजाह में मुकाबला था. और इस मैच को लेकर पूर्व पाकिस्तानी क्रिकेटर राशिद लतीफ़ ने एक दिलचस्प किस्सा सुनाया है, जब राहुल द्रविड़ आउट नहीं थे. फिर भी उन्हें आउट करार दे दिया गया था. राहुल द्रविड़ बल्लेबाजी करने क्रीज पर आए यह उनका तीसरा वनडे था. उन्होंने तीन रन ही बनाए थे कि तभी मुश्ताक अहमद की गेंद पर जोरदार अपील हुई और अंपायर ने द्रविड़ को आउट करार दे दिया. लतीफ ने मैच के बारे में बात करते हुए कहा, 'भारत के खिलाफ शारजाह में मैच खेला जा रहा था. द्रविड़ विकेट के पीछे कैच आउट हुए थे, मुश्ताक अहमद ने गेंद फेंकी और जोरदार अपील की."
