The UP administration has spent the last 24 hours covering up statutes of chief minister Mayawati and statutes of elephants the BSP's party symbol. The election commission deadline for curtains on all these statues is 5 pm wednesday. But time, manpower, cost and the sheer scale of work appeared to be making it a jumbo task. In 10 memorials and parks across Lucknow, veils are needed for 10 statues of Mayawati and nearly 100 elephants. The district magistrate has expressed confidence that the deadline would be met.
