1 Mithuna Sankranti marks the beginning of the third Solar month and is dedicated to Lord Surya and Goddess Bhumi.
2 This year Mithuna Sankranti has began on 15 June and ended on Sunday, 18 June.
3 On this day, the Sun transits from Vrishabha (Taurus) to Mithuna (Gemini), and that’s where the name Mithuna Sankranti comes from.
4 Just like any other Sankranti, Mithuna Sankranti is also considered as a highly auspicious day for performing Dan-Punya activities.
5 Followers accordingly consider making donations and performing saintly deeds by performing different rituals.
6 The Jagannath Temple of Puri witnesses a glorious celebration, wherein the temple is decorated with colored lights and vivid designs.
7 In Odisha, Mithun Sankranti is called Raja Parba and is celebrated for four days with a lot of enthusiasm.
