The Union government may have made right to education a fundamental right by bringing into force the Right To Education (RTE) Act of 2009, but government schools are lagging far behind in providing quality education. In year 2017, in the month of June, rainfall followed by strong wind damaged the roof top of a Government Primary School of Udhampur district. The storm destroyed the pillars of the school as well.

ये तस्वीर 21वीं सदी के भारत की है... जिसमें खुले आसमान के नीचे गुरुकुल चल रहा है.. मासूम अपने भविष्य की आस लिए सर्दी गर्मी बरसात हर मौसम के थपेड़े को सहते हुए रोज अक्षर ज्ञान को बढ़ावा देने यहां आते हैं.. दरअसल ये जम्मू- कश्मीर के उधमपुर के एक स्कूल की तस्वीर है.. जिसमें बच्चे बिना छत के स्कूल में रोज पढ़ रहे हैं... दरअसल 2017 के तूफान में इस स्कूल की छत उजड़ गई थी..
