A powerful magnitude-6.7 earthquake rocked Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido on September 6, causing landslides and leading to several deaths.
The Japan Times said that at least nine people had died and 31 were missing.
Local media said the death toll was likely to rise as rescue services continued to search houses buried by landslides.
