A Sri Lankan man in Australia on a student visa has been arrested and charged with terrorism-related offences, New South Wales Police said on Friday, August 31.
The man, 25, was arrested in Kensington on Thursday after “alleged documents containing plans to facilitate terrorism attacks” were found, police said. The man was employed as a contractor at the University of New South Wales and his student visa was due to expire at the end of September.
Police said on Friday a further search was conducted at his workplace.
