Helicopters and boats were used to rescue 27 people who became stranded by floodwater that surged down the Nueces River into Chalk Bluff Park near Uvalde, Texas, on Sunday, August 12, reports said

The Houston Chronicle reported that 8 to 9 inches of rain that fell earlier on Sunday turned the Nueces River into a raging torrent.
