French actor Omar Sy, whose films include The Intouchables, Jurassic World and X-Men: Days of Future Past, announced on November 27 a 48-hour funding drive in aid of displaced Rohingya refugees living in a camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
Sy said the hundreds of thousands of people there were in need of “basic necessities”. He said the idea was to do a 48-hour livestream, starting November 28, to raise funds.
Sy was one of several French celebrities to send messages from the camp, all of them saying they were there as part of an initiative by social media star Jerome Jarre, who dubbed the drive #LoveArmyForRohingya.
