The first convoy of rebel fighters and their families leaving besieged Qaboun neighborhood, east of Damascus, for Idlib, arrived at opposition-held areas in northern Syria on May 15.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that as many as 2,000 people, including 800 rebel fighters, left Qaboun for the opposition-held city of Idlib in north Syria.
The Syrian regime had captured more than 80 percent of Qaboun in east Damascus on May 13 after a deal was reached with opposition factions, ending four years of severe fighting and heavy strikes.
