A 10-foot long injured thresher shark was spotted off the rocks in Delaware’s Indian River on Tuesday, May 9.

DelmarvaNow reported officers tried to grab the shark from the rocks using a tow rope, but the shark started thrashing. Officials said the rescue boat would not have been large enough to take the shark to an examination center.

Natural Resources Police spokesman Sgt. John McDerby told Delmarva Now staff that the shark swam into the current and was not seen again.
