This mission (which is based upon one of the tutorial missions in TIE Fighter) teaches you to swap to torpedoes and to fire only after you have tone (missile lock). It may not be as exciting as dogfights, but this is how you win games.

I'm almost positive that if you fire torpedoes while the reloading craft is still docked with you, it's Bad News Bears. This mission goes on and on, and you're limited only by the number of torpedoes your reload craft carries. Also note that unless you take out a capital ship's turrets from a distance, you won't be getting very close to one.
