10 muaj para zgjedhjeve parlamentare Shtetet e Bashkuara te Amerikës paralajmërojnë qeverinë shqiptare se vitin e ardhshëm Uashingtoni do ta vëzhgojë nga shume afër vendin tone. Ky apel është kërcuar me force ne deklaratën e shkurtër për shtyp, qe zv/ndihmës Sekretari Amerikan i Shtetit, Philip Reeker, dha ne Tirane pas takimit me kryeministrin Sali Berisha. Një tjetër mesazh qe erdhi nga Departamenti i Shtetit ishte pavarësia e institucioneve. Sipas Reeker, Shtetet e Bashkuara presin qe qeveria te tregoje respekt për pavarësinë e institucioneve, ndërsa javët ne vijim do te jene kritike për Shqipërinë. "Siç i thashë kryeministrit, Uashingtoni do t'ju vëzhgojë vitin tjetër nga shume afër. Ne presim te shohim progres reformash dhe respekt për pavarësinë e institucioneve demokratike. Ne veçanti, javët e ardhshme janë kritike. Janë kritike për te demonstruar ecje para me reformat dhe seriozitet për qëllime qe shkojnë përtej politikes dhe qe reflektojnë interesin me te mire dhe dëshirën e shqiptareve," u shpreh Reeker. Nga ana tjetër, kryeministri Sali Berisha u angazhua për organizimin e zgjedhjeve te lira dhe te ndershme ndërsa pranoi se pavarësia e institucioneve ka qene ne qendër te bisedës me zyrtarin e larte amerikan. Kjo është e para here qe një zyrtar i larte amerikan flet për rëndësinë e zgjedhjeve parlamentare te vitit 2013.
