Procesi i regjistrimit të popullsisë në Maqedoni është ndërprerë, pasi të gjithë anëtarët shqiptarë dhe ata maqedonas të Komisionit Shtetëror për Regjistrim kane dhënë dorëheqjen, pas konstatimit të dështimit të këtij procesi ne terren.
Anëtarët shqiptare te komisionit, te cituar nga mediet ne Maqedoni, deklarojnë se dorëheqja vjen pas problemeve të shumta në terren dhe keqinterpretimit të ligjit për regjistrim, në veçanti nga anëtarët maqedonas të Komisionit dhe regjistruesit në terren. Agjencitë e lajmeve njoftojnë gjithashtu se dorëheqja kolektive e anëtarëve te komisionit vjen pas informacionit te anëtarëve shqiptare se ne tete ditët e para te procesit ishte arritur te regjistrohej vetëm një e katërta e popullsisë. Siç njofton agjencia e lajmeve "INA", ne rajonin e Tetovës, te banuar nga shqiptaret, është regjistruar deri tani vetëm 3.6 për qind e popullsisë. Për këtë arsye, anëtarët shqiptarë të komisionit te regjistrimit kishin kërkuar shtyrjen e afatit, por kërkesa është refuzuar nga pala maqedonase. Ne një situate te tille procesi i regjistrimit ne terren është ndërprerë, ndërsa qeveria e Shkupit do te mblidhet me urgjence për te vendosur sesi do te veprohet me tej. Përpara saj janë dy zgjidhje: zëvendësimi serish i te gjithë anëtareve te komisionit te regjistrimit dhe rifillimi i punës, ose ndryshimi i ligjit dhe dërgimi i tij ne Kuvend për miratim.
