EXCLUSIVE Defending the interests of Malays and Muslims is the "heart and soul" of Umno, says Mohamad Khir Toyo, the former menteri besar of Selangor.

But of late, he said, it is Malay rights NGOs like Perkasa that "have a greater voice" on such "sensitive issues", indirectly hitting out at Umno Youth, which has traditionally been in the forefront in championing such matters.
