Impossibilty
The sun has set beyond the hills but the afterglow still spills
pure pastel colours across the sky. Demonstrating artistry
few human artists dare believe that they can ever achieve
but still they feel that they must try. Although their efforts testify
it is a task beyond their skill. A dream that they cannot fulfil.
Their earthly palette can’t supply the heavenly colours of the sky.
So they retire disconsolate the light has gone, the hour grows late.
Tomorrow they will try anew; it’s something that they have to do.
Compelled, obsessed and driven by, a burning need to paint the sky.
They must continue and they will. Attempting the impossible.
