Richard Allen Beevor - The Blaze of Life

Searching for the right road
through a stormy night,
breaking down the walls of mist
to see a distant light,
seeking words amid cracks
of long forgotten memory,
release tides of hope
to relax power in the cemetery.

Power lain deep still
in oceans of silent water,
that run endless round forests
of the crimson altar,
come to find a path
amid a maze of visions rife,
losing sight on this hour
of a blaze of life.

Victims of an overpowered
urge to find freedom,
released from chains
of this earthly kingdom,
know life spellbound
in the grip of moving calm,
covered dreams hide those
that look for him.

Deep down in the well
of sincerity insecure,
burnt remains of trees
a nature not so sure,
lured to a pit of sin
found in woman's temptation,
passed dry flames of peace
seared into the nation.

Breaking down walls of mist
to see a distant light,
searching for the right road
through a stormy night,
where to discover freedom
in the maze of visions rife,
losing sight in the second
of a blaze of life.

One wish remains, all that is left
to lay down in long sleep,
lost in endless chasms of dreams
a void land so deep,
no need for worry and fret
goodbye to grasping care,
turn out once more the mortal light
for death to enter there.
