An Australian paramedic was attacked when he went to help a man who was feigning injuries.

The paramedic was travelling to work at about 5.20am when he saw a man laying in the street gutter. Assuming the man was in need of help, the paramedic stopped his car and approached the man to provide first aid. However, the man and his accomplice then jumped the paramedic, assaulting him. The paramedic overheard the men discussing whether to steal his car but instead, they fled the scene in their own car parked nearby.

The paramedic suffered fractured ribs and internal bruising and was treated at a nearby hospital for his injuries. Police are still looking for clues on who the two assailants were.
