Tesla Motors Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) issued second-quarter earnings of 20 cents a share on $405 million in revenue. Tesla Motors was estimated to report a loss of $18.8 million, or 17 cents per share, for the second quarter on $383 million in revenue, according to analysts polled by Reuters.
As of 4:38 p.m. Eastern, shares of Tesla Motors soared 12.38 percent to $150.90 after the bell.
Groupon Inc (Nasdaq: GRPN) reported earnings per share of 2 cents on revenue of $608.7 million, sending shares up after the daily deals company also announced it was naming Eric Lefkofsky as CEO. Wall Street had expected Groupon to report earnings of 2 cents a share on $606 million in revenue, according to analysts polled by Reuters.
Shares of Groupon jumped 15.60 to $10.09 in after-hours trade.
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (Nasdaq: GMCR) reported earnings of 82 cents a share and revenue of $967 million for the fiscal third quarter, compared with earnings of 46 cents per share on revenue of $869.19 million in the year-ago period.
The company was expected to report fiscal 2013 third-quarter earnings of 77 cents per share on revenue of $981 million, according to Reuters.
Shares of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters dropped 6.46 percent to $74.14 in after-hours trade.
On the earnings calendar for Thursday, Priceline.com Inc (Nasdaq: PCLN), Orbitz Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: OWW), T-Mobile US, Inc. (NYSE: TMUS), AMC Networks Inc (Nasdaq: AMCX), Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (NYSE: LGF) and more are scheduled to report quarterly results.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 48.07 points, or 0.31 percent, to close at 15,470.67. The S&P 500 Index was down 6.46 points, or 0.38 percent, to end at 1,690.91. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 11.76 points, or 0.32 percent, to finish at 3,654.01.
