Extremism and terrorism are against the teachings of Islam - Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan

Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has directed the Commissioner Karachi to devise a strategy in consultation with the prominent ulema so as to immediately mobilize the Ulema Council.

Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan said this while chairing a meeting of prominent ulema belonging to different schools of thought at Governor House.

Speaking at the meeting the ulema urged to mobilize the Ulema Council which had been constituted by Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan.

The ulema also agreed that extremism and terrorism are against the teachings of Islam.

The participants of the meeting also agreed that those elements which are involved in terrorism or extremism are not well-wishers of the Islam, Muslims and Pakistan.

They agreed to make concerted efforts for further promotion of inter-faith harmony in the country.

The ulema also vowed to condemn the terrorism in its all forms and manifestations as well as to raise voice against it at all the forums.

Prominent ulema including Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman, Mufti Muhammad Naeem, Allama Abbas Kumeli, Hafiz Muhammad Sulfi, Mufti Majid, Maulana Azizur-Rehman, Mufti Junaid, Maulana Abdul Kareem Abid, Shahid Ghauri, Yaqoob Attari, Haji Muhammad Hanif Tayyab, Maulana Ahmed Hassan, Allama Furqan Haider Abidi, Shabbar Raza, Allama Shabbir-ul-Hassan Tahiri, Siddiqi Rathore, Maulana Asad Thanvi and Maulana Tanveer-ul- Haq Thanvi attended the meeting.

DG Rangers major General Rizwanullah, Secretary Home Affairs, Rizwan Memon, IG Sindh Police Fayyaz Leghari, Commissioner Karachi, Roshan Ali Sheikh and other high officials attended the meeting.

The ulema congratulated the Sindh Governor for receiving the highest civil award and also hailed his efforts for the release of staff of Merchant Navy from the Somalian pirates.
