ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Heavy rains and flooding in southwestern Ecuador left at least eight people dead on Saturday, at the beginning of the winter season.
The storm hit the country's largest city of Quayaquil late Saturday evening, flooding streets and stranding drivers.
Officials reported the death count included one person who drowned, six who were electrocuted and one child who was missing after being swept away by the tide.
Local authorities declared a state of emergency as more rains are expected in the coastal city.
