Hi, I’m Melissa and I love visiting campgrounds, RV parks and paintball fields throughout the midwest. I currently live in the St. Louis, Missouri area but I enjoy traveling whenever I can.
One of the more common questions that I get asked relate to camping with pets. People really want to know if they can bring pets to a campground, and what restrictions there are if any.
There are many benefits to taking your beloved pet camping with you. You don't have to pay for a dog sitter or a kennel. Pets can take that time to get accustomed to being around people, especially kids. Most of all, your pet is then with you and you are not having to worry about them, therefore ruining your camping time.
When calling your favorite place to camp, you will want to ask them if they allow not just pets, but your particular type and breed of pet. Some campgrounds do not allow dogs, and some camping facilities have certain restrictions on size and breeds of dogs that are allowed.
Some RV Parks will have general areas for you to walk your pets, some will have designated dog walks, or dog parks, while other RV Campgrounds may ask you to take them off property to walk them. Knowing the campsite rule ahead of time can most certainly save some aggravation for both you and the campground when it comes to the expected behavior from your pets.
One thing you may not have thought of is, some campgrounds have campsites set up specifically for those with pets, or some others may have sites with bigger yards to more accommodate pets. Some RV Parks have only certain sites where animals are allowed. It is important to relate to the campground that you have pets with you, and make sure that you take care of them by following the park guidelines.

I’ve also got a gift for you that I think can help you avoid a forgetful moment that could ruin your camping trip before it ever gets started. Me and my staff developed a checklist of the essential items you are likely to need before you go camping. If you go to www.campinginstlouis.com, you can request a copy of the “Disaster or delight-Must Have Items” checklist. It’s free and I hope it helps. If you’re ever in the St. Louis area or have questions even though you’re not, feel free to call some of my friends over at Pin Oak Creek RV Park and Paintball they are great folks and can be reached at 888-474-6625
