Another of me playing the wonderful Compton electrone organ model 357 at All Saint's Anglican and Methodist Joint Church in the village of Dagnall near Dunstable, Buckinghamshire.

For this video im playing the lovely hymn 'Come, O thou Traveller unknown' to the tune 'Wrestling Jacob' and using some classic Compton electrone tone colours. The rotofon speaker can be heard to maximum effect throughout.

Regardless of what people may think of Compton electronic organs, they were considered 'cutting edge' technology in their day and as such are an important part of organ building history and so therefore every opportunity should be made to preserve them where possible. Over the years it has sickened me to see people willingly break them up or ripping out the original mechanics for 'Hauptwerk' or other digital circuitry - in short destroying history. It is so good to see churches like All Saint's keeping them in prestine condition and the fact that instruments like this are still fully functioning at almost 50 years of age is testiment to Comptons'.
