Nicolas Sarkozy says he will cut the number of new immigrants by almost half - if he is re-elected as the French President.

It is about six weeks until the French people go to vote in the initial stage of the election.

Trailing behind in the polls, Sarkozy is trying to appeal to right wing voters.
