Israel, India mull boosting eco ties

Israel and India may soon partner up in the field of water management, as the Israeli government is reportedly exploring a possible partnership with a Gujarat-based company. Prof. Uri Shai, head of the Water and Sewage Authority in Israel, had recently met with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the potential partnership. A statement issued after Shai's visit to the west-Indian region, said that Israel was keen to offer potential cooperation with India on various environmental issues, as well as to offer it Israeli technology that could help set cost-effective solutions in various fields. Israeli Ambassador to India Alon Ushpiz said that should the deals prove successful, "bilateral trade between India and Israel is likely to grow to triple from $5 billion per year to $15 billion.
