Smoke filled the streets of Bahrain's capital on Thursday. Anti-government protesters were sent scrambling as police fired tear gas at the crowd.
Earlier in the day, some 10,000 people took to the streets demanding reform as they carried the coffin of a fellow activist killed in protests the day before.
Some wrapped themselves in the flag as the march wound its way through Manama. The protest comes on the heels of a new report claiming Bahrain's government used harsh and abusive practices to squelch protests.
SOUNDBITE: ACTIVIST, Alaa Shahabi saying:
"There is ongoing violence, there are ongoing abuses, there is a complete lack of faith that the government will even read the report let alone implement the recommendations, and I for one, my husband has been in jail for 4 months."
The inquiry by a prominent international rights attorney said nearly 3,000 people were arrested and as many as 4,000 lost their jobs after the uprising earlier this year.
