Footage has emerged of riot police advancing on student protesters during a demonstration in Sao Paolo.

Officers reportedly used tear gas during the protest over Government plans to restructure the Brazilian state education system.

According to local media, the government has decided to suspend the plan that would come into force in 2016 and would have seen nearly 100 schools closed.
