Some trends for winter that I really like to and that I see and that it seemed to be trendy and quiet well, are soups. Serving soups in many different formats. If it is a standing reception, or a cocktail party prior to, it is fun to do little soup sips that have fun toppings on them.
Bloody Mary soup with a little lump crab, or a french onion soup at a better seated dinner with butternut squash, crouton, or some hearty stews. Things that have been kind of maligned in the past. Peasant dishes, like Coco Van or a Osso Bucco. These are wonderfully slow cooked, verily fragrant wonderfully, savory dishes that can be brought back into your menu for that time of the year.
