The auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti was celebrated in Gurumaa Ashram on the 14th of January 2010 with a special satsang by Anandmurti Gurumaa. Sadhaks and devotees came for this festive event in huge numbers to have Darshan and blessings of the Master. This entire video has been divided into 7 parts. Each part encapsulates some important, thought-provoking points which Gurumaa brought up in the course of the satsang. Expounding on the significance of this particular period, Gurumaa began by explaining that during this time, the sun enters the Makar rashi, the Capricorn sign of the zodiac. In the Scriptures, this is called the Uttarayan period, the Day of the Gods, a very significant term as positive and creative forces are at their peak and negative forces are at their lowest ebb. This insight is extremely relevant, more so for those who want to go deeper in sadhana. Japa, tapa, daan, simran, sewa, yoga and other austerities performed during this period supposedly yield greater benefit for seekers. Do watch it with an open mind to understand the importance of Makar Sankranti, and dont miss the second video in this series which is about living a disciplined life for spiritual evolution.
